Job Description
Software Engineer developing full-stack applications and scalable backend infrastructure for xneelo, a South African web hosting provider. Solving large-scale technical challenges with Agile engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Develop full-stack software end to end, with particular focus on front-end development
- Solve interesting, large-scale backend technical challenges
- Improve engineering practices and identify opportunities to innovate and optimize
- Understand customer needs and deliver innovative, robust solutions in collaboration with the Product Owner and stakeholders
- Support customers operationally when escalated by the Client Services team
- Build and maintain backend infrastructure for a large-scale hosting service
- Deliver high-quality software frequently and iteratively using Agile principles
- Take ownership of the team’s part of the xneelo ecosystem
Requirements:
- Full-stack development experience with particular strength in front-end development
- Backend software and API design and development
- Front-end development using React, Angular, or Vue
- Object-oriented programming using a language such as Ruby
- Software development in Linux/Unix environments
- Containerization using Docker or Kubernetes
- Agile development practices, including automated tests, refactoring, continuous integration, and pair programming
- Effective communication
- Self-motivation and self-management
- Passion for programming, open-source technologies, and IT
- BSc majoring in Computer Science advantageous, but demonstrated backend software development track record ultimately counts
- Minimum 4+ years of software development experience
- Minimum 2 years supporting a large-scale application operationally
- Security-focused development experience advantageous
- Experience with Rancher, Docker Swarm, or other container orchestration platforms advantageous
- Database design and performance tuning with MySQL, Redis, or similar advantageous
- DevOps experience on a Linux-based platform advantageous
- System administration experience on a Linux-based platform advantageous
