Job Description

Software Project Manager leading complex software engagements for Obsidian Systems, a consultancy building regulated capital-markets systems. Coordinating engineers, clients, scope, risks, and delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex software engineering engagements from initial scope through production delivery
  • Own client software projects from planning and kickoff through delivery and project close
  • Translate project scope and client objectives into milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and execution plans
  • Partner with engineering leads on technical requirements, architecture decisions, implementation dependencies, and delivery risks
  • Maintain visibility into project health across scope, timeline, resources, risks, and dependencies
  • Identify delivery risks early and drive mitigation plans
  • Facilitate kickoffs, planning sessions, status meetings, retrospectives, and other delivery ceremonies
  • Ensure engineers have necessary context, decisions, requirements, and stakeholder access
  • Communicate status, risks, trade-offs, dependencies, and changes to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Protect engineering teams from unnecessary churn while maintaining trusted client relationships
  • Escalate issues with context, options, and recommended next steps
  • Improve project management processes, tooling, documentation, and delivery practices across Obsidian Systems

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in software project management, technical project management, delivery management, or a comparable role
  • Demonstrated experience owning delivery of complex software engineering projects from planning through completion
  • Experience working directly with software engineers and technical leads in a software development environment
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including planning, development, testing, release, and production delivery
  • Ability to understand technical concepts, dependencies, constraints, and trade-offs without being a software engineer
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and creating structure in evolving environments
  • Experience working effectively with distributed or remote teams
  • Preferred: experience in software consultancy, professional services, or client-facing engineering organizations
  • Preferred: experience in blockchain, distributed systems, fintech, financial services, or capital markets
  • Preferred: familiarity with digital assets, blockchain infrastructure, or the Canton Network ecosystem
  • Preferred: experience delivering software into regulated or enterprise environments
  • Preferred: familiarity with Agile and adaptable delivery practices
  • Availability during core business hours Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM Eastern Time (EST)
