Job Description

Solutions Architect designing secure, scalable AWS microservices and event-driven systems for ARC-One Solutions. Defining cloud-native architecture, APIs, infrastructure, and platform standards for regulated environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with engineering and product teams to define scalable, maintainable microservices architecture using domain-driven design and distributed systems principles
  • Design and implement event-driven architectures with Apache Kafka or similar technologies
  • Define architecture for mobile and backend integration, including data modeling, offline synchronization, conflict resolution, BFF patterns, and API design
  • Standardize containerization with Docker across development, staging, and production environments
  • Deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes for scalability, resilience, and high availability
  • Design and deploy cloud-native solutions on AWS using EKS, EC2, S3, RDS/Aurora, Lambda, and API Gateway
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or AWS CDK/CloudFormation to automate provisioning and support GitOps
  • Establish best practices for security, resilience, observability, and operational excellence
  • Ensure architectures meet security, compliance, and HIPAA requirements
  • Prototype and validate architectural solutions through spikes and proofs of concept
  • Lead architecture reviews, threat modeling, and code reviews
  • Create and maintain architectural documentation, including ADRs, C4 diagrams, data flow diagrams, runbooks, and technical guidance
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on technical strategies, roadmaps, and objectives
  • Contribute to technology evaluations, tool selection, and platform evolution toward domain-driven, event-driven microservices
  • Support onboarding and enablement of engineering teams on adopted architectural patterns, tools, and standards

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or above in Computer Science or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering
  • At least 4+ years in a Solution Architect, Principal Engineer, or equivalent technical leadership role
  • Experience designing and delivering complex, distributed production systems
  • Previous experience in highly regulated industries with strict data privacy requirements preferred
  • Expertise with Java, Spring Boot, and reactive programming in large-scale production environments
  • Experience designing, building, and operating GraphQL APIs
  • Experience with event-driven architecture and Apache Kafka in production, including topics, partitions, consumer groups, exactly-once processing, schema registry, Avro/Protobuf, dead-letter queues, and integration/messaging patterns
  • Experience with relational databases, PostgreSQL strongly preferred, NoSQL, Redis caching, and data modeling for distributed eventually consistent systems
  • Ability to design offline-first or hybrid online/offline mobile architectures, synchronization strategies, conflict resolution, and Backend-for-Frontend patterns
  • Knowledge of security architecture in distributed systems and resilience/observability patterns
  • Experience with containerization, container orchestration, and cloud-native deployment practices on AWS
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and familiarity with GitOps workflows
  • Experience rapidly prototyping architectural options and making pragmatic, data-driven technology decisions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
