Job Description
Remote specialty medical biller and coder resolving disputed physician claims for a healthcare provider. Maintaining billing compliance, correcting discrepancies, and applying Medicare, Medicaid, HCPC, CPT, and ICD-9 knowledge.
Responsibilities:
- Resolve disputed claims by gathering, verifying, providing additional information, and following up on claims
- Resolve discrepancies by examining and evaluating data and selecting corrective steps
- Maintain work operations by following policies and procedures and reporting compliance issues
- Maintain quality results by following company standards
- Update job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and current Medicaid/Medicare billing and reimbursement procedures
- Perform other assigned duties
- Gather and report claim information
- Solve utilization problems
- Work effectively with medical staff and external agencies
- Identify, analyze, and solve claim issues
- Deal courteously and professionally with internal and external customers
Requirements:
- High school diploma
- Minimum of two years of experience with medical office billing procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of Physician E&M billing and coding required
- Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures
- Knowledge of third-party payers, Medicare, Medicaid billing and collections, HCPC, CPT, and ICD-9 coding
- Knowledge of computer systems, programs, data entry, and spreadsheet applications
- Knowledge of medical terminology and analyzing information
- Knowledge of collection practices
- Knowledge of governmental, legal, and regulatory provisions related to collection activity
- Skills in gathering and reporting claim information
- Skills in solving utilization problems
- Skills in written and verbal communication and customer relations
- Skills in working with Windows-based software systems
- Ability to work effectively with medical staff and external agencies
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve claim issues
- Ability to deal courteously and professionally with internal and external customers
- Billing Certification preferred
- Certified Coder preferred
