Job Description

Staff Analyst owning HELOC credit performance, reporting, and deal analytics for Upstart’s AI lending marketplace. Partnering with capital investors and cross-functional teams to support home-equity growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage directly with capital investors to showcase Upstart’s platform and craft tailored capital solutions for the home equity program
  • Own the HELOC credit performance narrative, including arrears, roll rates, vintage and cohort loss curves, model calibration, and feature importance
  • Explain portfolio performance and forward-risk implications to investors, partners, and internal leadership
  • Produce recurring yield, default, and prepayment performance reporting
  • Help model and steer deal strategy for capital partners
  • Develop financial models, data pipelines, and automated credit monitoring and reporting infrastructure
  • Use agentic AI tools such as Claude Code and Codex to automate analytics pipelines and recurring reporting
  • Collaborate with Machine Learning, Product, Engineering, and Finance teams on HELOC credit metrics, narratives, and forecasts
  • Mentor junior team members and elevate data, credit, and analytics expertise

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in financial services, focused on credit and debt, including hands-on loan portfolio performance and credit risk experience
  • Hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience analyzing and explaining portfolio credit performance, including delinquency and arrears, roll rates, vintage loss curves, and model calibration
  • Expertise working with large datasets and data modeling
  • Experience building robust data pipelines
  • Experience using Databricks, Redshift, DBT, and business intelligence tools
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Data Science, or another quantitative field
  • East/West coast time-zone availability
  • Able to live and work in the U.S. or Canada outside Quebec
  • Preferred: cross-functional collaboration, executive-level data storytelling, Tableau/PowerBI/Looker, HELOC/home equity/mortgage credit, financial modeling, deal analytics, agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex, model explainability and calibration
