Job Description

Strategic Account Director growing Cengage’s higher-education sales and institutional digital learning partnerships. Driving renewals, expansion, negotiations, and customer value across Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex contract negotiations with senior-level academic and administrative leaders
  • Own account strategy, forecasting, and multi-year growth, retention, and expansion plans
  • Identify and capitalize on institutional opportunities aligned with customer objectives and student outcomes
  • Develop financial models demonstrating the return on investment of Cengage Unlimited
  • Spearhead executive-level new business development through sales engagement, networking, research, and outreach
  • Drive institutional revenue growth, renewals, upsells, expansions, and conversions
  • Articulate the value of Cengage products and services around affordability, equity, persistence, and achievement
  • Manage IA/EA/CUI data analysis to inform account strategy and decision-making
  • Lead institutional change management toward digital access models
  • Manage customer relationships through kickoffs, onboarding, executive success reviews, and strategic engagement
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor using data-driven insights
  • Coordinate with sales, channel, customer success, marketing, operations, and internal teams
  • Maintain pipeline, opportunity, and account management in Salesforce
  • Provide thought leadership on institutional business models and account strategy
  • Synthesize market feedback and institutional trends for Cengage leadership

Requirements:

  • BA or BS degree
  • 5+ years of successful experience in educational or enterprise-level sales
  • Proven ability to own and complete strategic account plans with long-term revenue accountability
  • Strong background in high-level negotiations
  • Strong analytical, written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Deep understanding of higher-education institutional financial and academic decision-making structures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms, preferably Salesforce
  • Willingness and ability to travel 35–50% to key customers, campuses, conferences, and partner events
