Job Description
Title Examiner/Abstractor reviewing property records and resolving title defects for LOGS, a creditors’ rights legal services firm. Ensuring accurate, insurable titles and timely SLA-compliant legal work.
Responsibilities:
- Review title orders in accordance with company guidelines to evaluate the condition and insurability of titles
- Analyze deeds, deeds of trust, mechanics liens, tax liens, judgments, assessments, and probates to determine their impact on title
- Research and review public records and legal documents to establish ownership, legal descriptions, and title-related issues
- Identify title defects or discrepancies and develop solutions to resolve them and ensure clear title
- Explain the chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to clients
- Provide detailed guidance on title issues as needed
- Adhere to production targets and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Maintain high production standards and complete tasks on time
- Perform additional responsibilities assigned by management
- Participate in special projects as required
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, client requirements, court rules, and best practices
- Produce accurate, timely, and high-quality legal work product for represented financial institutions
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in title examination
- Direct experience working with title examination
- Comprehensive understanding of real estate law
- Knowledge of title examination processes
- Ability to interpret complex legal documents
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Organizational proficiency
- Familiarity with title examination procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods
- Ability to remain focused for extended periods
- Ability to work on computers for a significant portion of the day
- Ability to perform repetitive movements such as typing, clicking, and swiveling
- Ability to lift 10–20 pounds as needed
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to complete the I-9 form and provide documentation of identity and work eligibility
