Job Description

Trauma-informed wellness coach supporting California psychiatric patients with mindfulness, breathwork, yoga-informed skills, and sleep routines. Delivering individual coaching and live virtual groups remotely from India.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct brief individual, non-psychotherapy wellness coaching sessions for clinician-referred adult outpatients in California
  • Create individualized, clinician-aligned wellness routines
  • Teach safe breathwork, mindfulness, grounding, sleep-support, gentle movement, and yoga-informed skills
  • Facilitate approximately 2–4 live virtual wellness-skills groups per week, subject to patient volume
  • Complete structured, non-diagnostic wellness intakes
  • Track patient-reported sleep, stress, mood, and practice adherence
  • Modify approved wellness routines based on patient feedback, tolerance, and goals
  • Help patients identify concerns to bring to their treating psychiatric provider
  • Maintain group safety, privacy, professional boundaries, and respectful participation
  • Document coaching activities, time spent, patient response, home-practice plans, and relevant concerns in the chronic care management platform
  • Maintain group attendance records and follow approved templates and workflows
  • Promptly communicate clinical or safety concerns to the treating psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner through secure channels
  • Participate in supervision, training, quality assurance, onboarding, and a three-month probationary period
  • Follow approved intervention protocols and all scope, privacy, security, and escalation procedures
  • Do not diagnose, provide psychotherapy or crisis counseling, independently assess risk, advise on medication, or manage emergencies independently

Requirements:

  • Strong spoken and written English for clear, warm, professional communication with U.S.-based adult patients
  • Formal training and demonstrated experience in mindfulness, breathwork/pranayama, yoga-informed wellness, health coaching, or a closely related discipline
  • Training in trauma-informed care and ability to facilitate practices emphasizing choice, consent, pacing, patient autonomy, and emotional safety
  • Formal health-coaching education or a recognized coaching certification
  • Experience supporting individuals with anxiety, depression, ADHD, insomnia, stress dysregulation, and/or trauma-related symptoms
  • Familiarity with boundaries between wellness coaching, psychotherapy, and medical care
  • Excellent active listening, rapport-building, and group-facilitation skills
  • Cultural humility and awareness of U.S.-based patients' diverse contexts
  • Exceptional reliability, punctuality, organization, and professionalism
  • Comfort with secure patient portals, video platforms, structured documentation, and digital workflows
  • Ability to complete required practice onboarding and training before seeing patients
  • Ability to provide a dedicated encrypted, password-protected device
  • Multi-factor authentication for practice systems
  • Private, quiet, professional workspace
  • Reliable high-speed internet suitable for live video sessions
  • Headphones or privacy-protective audio setup
  • Ability to use only practice-approved HIPAA-compliant systems
  • Must sign confidentiality, privacy, data-security, and business-associate-related agreements as applicable
  • Willingness to overlap with U.S. Pacific Time, including daytime and evening hours
