Job Description

Veterinarian providing compassionate in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care for Heartstrings Pet Hospice. Supporting pets and families throughout end-of-life care across the Ann Arbor area.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide compassionate, Fear Free–aligned in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care for geriatric and terminally ill pets
  • Support and guide families through the pet end-of-life process
  • Build relationships with local veterinary clinics and serve as an extension of their care
  • Work independently in the field with support from medical leadership, Veterinary Care Specialists, and operational teams
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
  • Collaborate with medical leadership and support teams
  • Participate in ongoing training, education, and clinical development

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS) from an accredited veterinary school
  • Active veterinary license in the state of practice, or ability to obtain one
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Availability to work some weekends as part of a rotating schedule
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs with assistance
  • Successful background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check post-hire and before the associated start date
  • Hospice, palliative care, or Fear Free certification is a plus but not required
