Job Description

Materials engineer supporting Honeywell Aerospace gas turbine engines and metallic-part manufacturing. Liaising with Taiwan and APAC suppliers on metallurgy and metallurgical processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise and Materials and Process support for Honeywell Aerospace products
  • Work as part of an integrated Materials Engineering team
  • Collaborate across Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams to create solutions and systems meeting evolving customer needs
  • Participate in all phases of product development
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for less experienced engineers
  • Support new and existing aerospace gas turbine engine products used for propulsion and auxiliary power
  • Focus on metallurgy and metallurgical processes including casting, forging, heat treating, and welding
  • Support materials and processes involved in the design and manufacture of metallic parts
  • Work with suppliers in Taiwan and the APAC Region
  • Serve as a liaison between regional suppliers and Honeywell Aerospace
  • Travel approximately 25%

Requirements:

  • Bachelors' Degree within STEM
  • 4+ years of experience in materials/process engineering
  • 4+ years of experience working with aerospace materials (aluminum, steel, titanium and nickel)
  • Bachelor’s Degree with specialization in Materials Science, Material Engineering, Metallurgy, Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Understanding and hands-on experience in casting, forging, heat treating, welding, or other metallurgical manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with industrial materials and processing specifications
  • Familiarity with Nadcap and industry standards, requirements and approvals
  • Ability to assess new suppliers and determine their strengths and weaknesses
  • Experience conducting supplier audits
  • Experience working with and developing suppliers
  • Experience troubleshooting material and process issues and providing technical solutions for rapid problem solving
  • Experience liaising between suppliers and Honeywell Engineering, Quality, Supplier Development Engineers (SDE), and Integrated Supply Chain (ISC)
  • Experience working with Design Engineering
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and requirements
  • Experience with Six Sigma, Lean and other process improvement tools
  • Experience with simulation tools such as DEFORM, ProCast, and Thermocalc
  • May occasionally need to lift 35 pounds in a single lift
