Job Description
AI Product Engineer integrating technical understanding and AI in software development for crafting solutions in cloud-based ERP systems. Collaborating with product management and stakeholders to drive product development.
Responsibilities:
- As an AI Product Engineer (m/f/d), you combine product thinking, technical understanding, and AI-assisted software development.
- You understand customer problems, actively shape solutions, and use AI as a productive development partner — taking full responsibility for quality, architecture, and customer value.
- You close the gap between product-oriented, entrepreneurial thinking and technical implementation, bringing solutions from concept to technical realization.
- You drive the product’s AI-first evolution, steer the development process, review results, and ensure the right code is written for the right problem.
- You create viable solution concepts together with product management and stakeholders — you think in terms of problems and solutions, not tickets.
- You guide AI-coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex through the full development process: precise prompts, meaningful task decomposition, and iterative improvement.
- You critically evaluate AI-generated code for security, maintainability, performance, and architectural fit, and perform code reviews.
- You rapidly build prototypes and MVPs, gather early feedback, and validate assumptions before investing major effort.
- You ensure technical quality despite high delivery speed — using tests, acceptance criteria, and CI/CD.
- You assess technical feasibility and cost–benefit ratios to provide product management with a solid basis for prioritization decisions.
- In addition, you continuously improve our AI-supported development processes and share your knowledge within the team.
Requirements:
- Several years of experience in software or product development and a degree in computer science or a comparable qualification.
- Confident use of AI-coding tools and LLMs (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex): prompting, context management, task decomposition, and critical evaluation of AI-generated results — including awareness of limitations, hallucinations, and security risks.
- Experience implementing AI solutions in software — e.g., integrating LLMs via APIs, AI-powered product features, RAG or agent-based approaches.
- Ability to understand, assess, and review code in our stack: TypeScript/Node.js, React/Next.js, REST APIs, SQL/PostgreSQL — without needing to write every line yourself.
- Good understanding of modern software architectures, APIs, data models, and cloud systems, with attention to security (e.g., authentication, tenant isolation), performance, and maintainability.
- Solid knowledge of testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end tests) and confident use of Git, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
- Strong product thinking: you question requirements, identify the real customer need, and think solution-oriented and entrepreneurially.
- Experience with agile methodologies, discovery, MVPs, and iterative development.
- A plus: experience with Docker/Kubernetes, Prisma — or domain knowledge in the trades/construction sector and German business formats (ZUGFeRD/XRechnung, GAEB, DATEV).
- Ownership mindset: you feel responsible for the customer outcome, not just individual tasks.
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders and the ability to make decisions.
- Very good German and good English skills, both written and spoken.
