Job Description
Area Manager leading Air Methods’ Nebraska air-medical base operations. Driving safety, staffing, financial performance, and customer satisfaction across multiple bases.
Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day operations of multiple Air Methods bases across Nebraska
- Ensure bases remain in service, operate safely, and provide positive customer experiences
- Build an optimal and engaged local-base culture aligned with company values and mission
- Communicate with base staff about efficient operations, responsibilities, and performance expectations
- Drive KPIs to maximize profit contribution
- Manage and control P&L, expenses, and payroll across assigned bases
- Schedule base staff to ensure full coverage, optimize in-service rates, and minimize overtime
- Collaborate with Centers of Excellence and Business Development to ensure policy and procedure compliance and customer satisfaction
- Recruit, manage performance, develop teammates, and handle employee-relations issues, including termination
- Coach and model appropriate leadership behaviors
- Oversee supply-chain and logistics needs, including non-aviation, maintenance, and clinical activities and expenses
- Coordinate with maintenance leadership on maintenance events and spare utilization
- Support the Regional Director with customer scorecards and execute action plans
- Maintain and monitor business, medical, and other required licenses
- Ensure compliance with DOT and non-DOT random and reasonable-suspicion requirements
- Coordinate base startups, moves, and closures
- Oversee facility repairs, maintenance, and lease management
- Directly supervise assigned-area employees, including hiring, training, work assignment, performance appraisal, discipline, complaint resolution, and problem-solving
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 2–5 years of related work experience in clinical, aviation, or maintenance with a strong leadership background and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred
- Ability to be available 24/7 for operational requirements
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% or more depending on business needs
- Strong leadership background
- Strong interpersonal skills and high degree of collaboration at all levels
- High critical-thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to multitask efficiently and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage revenue and budgets
- Ability to prepare written reports
- Demonstrated leadership
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Regular attendance
- Must comply with applicable company policies and discipline-specific DOT and non-DOT requirements
