Job Description
Assistant Accountant maintaining Cummins’ general ledger and analyzing accounting transactions. Preparing reconciliations and investigating financial variances for management and auditors.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general accounting work to maintain the department’s general ledger
- Analyze the department’s chart of accounts and financial statements by identifying and analyzing variances
- Analyze, record, and report accounting transactions in a timely manner
- Prepare general ledger entries and account reconciliations
- Respond to inquiries from management, internal and external auditors, the Sarbanes-Oxley audit group, and others regarding financial results and special reporting requests
- Keep organizational information confidential
Requirements:
- College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
- Minimal relevant professional work experience in the field of study required
- Knowledge of financial analysis
- Knowledge of financial internal controls
- Knowledge of financial regulations
- Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
