Job Description
Remote Profee Cardiology Medical Coder supporting IKS Health’s medical-record coding services. Reviewing physician records and assigning cardiac diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT.
Responsibilities:
- Review outpatient, physician, or emergency room medical records to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures
- Provide coding and abstracting services using ICD-10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding systems
- Abstract appropriate information according to client guidelines
- Clarify ambiguous or conflicting documentation with physicians
- Assign diagnostic and procedural codes after thorough medical-record review
- Mentor training coders and/or new hires through education and training
- Maintain current knowledge of Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting
- Participate in industry forums and support coding education within the team
- Contribute to a positive company image through professionalism, adaptability, and mutual respect
Requirements:
- CPC certification required
- Experience with Epic/3M 360
- Minimum 3 years of professional fee cardiac coding experience
- Ability to code Clinic E&M and CPTs
- Ability to code echocardiograms, remote monitoring, and EKGs
- Observation and inpatient chart coding is a bonus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes
- Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding principles and guidelines
- Knowledge of reimbursement systems and federal, state, and payer-specific documentation, coding, and billing regulations and policies
- Must pass a coding proficiency test
