Job Description

Remote Profee Cardiology Medical Coder supporting IKS Health’s medical-record coding services. Reviewing physician records and assigning cardiac diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT.

Responsibilities:

  • Review outpatient, physician, or emergency room medical records to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures
  • Provide coding and abstracting services using ICD-10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding systems
  • Abstract appropriate information according to client guidelines
  • Clarify ambiguous or conflicting documentation with physicians
  • Assign diagnostic and procedural codes after thorough medical-record review
  • Mentor training coders and/or new hires through education and training
  • Maintain current knowledge of Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting
  • Participate in industry forums and support coding education within the team
  • Contribute to a positive company image through professionalism, adaptability, and mutual respect

Requirements:

  • CPC certification required
  • Experience with Epic/3M 360
  • Minimum 3 years of professional fee cardiac coding experience
  • Ability to code Clinic E&M and CPTs
  • Ability to code echocardiograms, remote monitoring, and EKGs
  • Observation and inpatient chart coding is a bonus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes
  • Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding principles and guidelines
  • Knowledge of reimbursement systems and federal, state, and payer-specific documentation, coding, and billing regulations and policies
  • Must pass a coding proficiency test
