Job Description

Coding Specialist in healthcare organization applying ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT codes for accurate reimbursement. Collaborating across departments for coding compliance and documentation improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the correct application of ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT codes
  • Collaborate with multiple departments regarding the status of coding
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and ensure documentation compliance
  • Enter and reconcile all medications required for Medicare claim reporting
  • Work to achieve performance goals and pursue personal development
  • Identify, compile, abstract and code patient data using standard classification systems
  • Resolve/clarify codes with conflicting or unclear information
  • Maintain health record indexes and storage systems to analyze information
  • Compile and maintain patients' medical records for data needs

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in healthcare, business, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years of work experience in the administrative, business or healthcare field
  • Certified Coder in ICD-9 and ICD-10 (in process is acceptable)
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy policies, informed consent, and other regulations
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in MS Office: Outlook, Excel & Word
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to interact with various departments throughout the organization
