Job Description
Coding Specialist in healthcare organization applying ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT codes for accurate reimbursement. Collaborating across departments for coding compliance and documentation improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the correct application of ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT codes
- Collaborate with multiple departments regarding the status of coding
- Identify opportunities for improvement and ensure documentation compliance
- Enter and reconcile all medications required for Medicare claim reporting
- Work to achieve performance goals and pursue personal development
- Identify, compile, abstract and code patient data using standard classification systems
- Resolve/clarify codes with conflicting or unclear information
- Maintain health record indexes and storage systems to analyze information
- Compile and maintain patients' medical records for data needs
Requirements:
- Associate degree in healthcare, business, or a related field or equivalent experience
- 2-3 years of work experience in the administrative, business or healthcare field
- Certified Coder in ICD-9 and ICD-10 (in process is acceptable)
- Knowledge of HIPAA privacy policies, informed consent, and other regulations
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in MS Office: Outlook, Excel & Word
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to interact with various departments throughout the organization
