Job Description
Commercial auto claims adjuster handling pre-suit bodily injury investigations, coverage analysis, and injury valuation. Resolving claims remotely for Berkshire Hathaway’s biBerk commercial insurance business.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and resolve all components of first- and third-party commercial auto claims
- Direct commercial automobile claim loss investigations and adjusting from a remote office setting
- Investigate BI/UM/UIM losses using Independent Adjusters and other internal/external resources
- Identify coverage issues and complete coverage analysis
- Evaluate and value injuries and damages
- Handle moderate to severe injury claims, including soft-tissue injuries, fractures, disc herniations, joint dislocations, short-term hospitalizations, and outpatient surgeries
- Handle attorney-represented claimants
- Analyze and respond to Time Limited Policy Demands
- Work with physicians/therapists, attorneys, accountants, medical billing audit firms, accident reconstructionists, biomechanical engineers, and forensic accountants
- Maintain claim files according to established best claim practice guidelines
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience handling bodily injury claims
- Bachelor's degree required for candidates with less than 5 years of relevant adjusting experience
- Strong knowledge of auto claims adjusting practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong letter writing skills
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize
- Ability to switch focus at a moment’s notice
- Ability to multi-task when needed
- Self-motivator who works independently with minimal to moderate supervision
- Strong ability to understand and review policy documentation
- Ability to formulate solid action plans to resolve claims
- Ability to effectively present files in front of groups
- Obtain and maintain all required state licenses
- Ability to travel for company / claim related events if needed
