Job Description

Controller overseeing accounting, reporting, treasury, tax, and compliance for Evergreen Nephrology, which transforms kidney care through value-based healthcare. Leading the accounting and payroll team while supporting audits and financial planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Evergreen Nephrology's accounting operations and ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness across financial reporting
  • Manage the general ledger and ensure completeness of financial transactions
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and oversee financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
  • Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures compliant with GAAP and regulatory standards
  • Work with external vendors to prepare annual federal and state taxes
  • Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, and long-term planning
  • Monitor cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity
  • Oversee treasury administration and funds flow to partners
  • Manage banking relationships and optimize the company's cash position with finance leadership
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, including tax filings and financial reporting standards
  • Oversee the annual audit process with external auditors
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks related to contracts, credit, and operational processes
  • Lead and mentor the accounting and payroll team
  • Evaluate team performance and provide feedback, coaching, and training
  • Ensure adequate staffing and resources for financial reporting and operational needs
  • Report to the SVP of Finance
  • Perform other duties consistent with the role as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in accounting or finance, including at least 4 years in a leadership role
  • Proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems
  • Strong analytical and technological proficiency, with ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Teams
  • Ability to work effectively in a primarily remote environment
  • Home internet with minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps; cable, fiber, or DSL hardwired connections recommended
  • Dedicated workspace without ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI/HIPAA information
  • Ability to work 8:30am–5pm in the Central time zone
  • CPA highly preferred
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • NetSuite experience highly preferred
  • Healthcare industry experience, particularly in value-based care or managed care organizations, highly desirable
