Job Description

Australian-qualified corporate and M&A lawyers evaluating AI-generated legal answers for 24-MAG. Comparing platforms, scoring legal reasoning, and providing precise feedback on Australian law.

Responsibilities:

  • Review AI-generated responses to questions involving Australian corporate and commercial law
  • Evaluate legal reasoning across M&A, transactional, governance, and related corporate matters
  • Identify substantive legal errors, omissions, unsupported conclusions, and misleading reasoning
  • Assess whether responses reflect the standard expected in professional Australian legal practice
  • Compare identical legal prompts across two AI platforms
  • Evaluate responses for accuracy, completeness, reasoning quality, and practical usefulness
  • Score responses against a standardised evaluation rubric
  • Apply evaluation standards consistently across different legal questions
  • Provide concise written rationale for each evaluation
  • Explain legal strengths, weaknesses, and inaccuracies
  • Identify missing issues or analytical steps affecting answers
  • Apply professional experience to corporate, M&A, transactional, governance, commercial agreement, and deal execution matters
  • Assess legal analysis from the perspective of practising counsel
  • Maintain professional standards consistent with established law-firm practice

Requirements:

  • Qualified to practise law in Australia
  • At least 2 years of law-firm experience; 3+ years preferred
  • Substantive professional experience in corporate law, M&A, or transactional practice
  • Primary professional background within an established law firm
  • Candidates currently working in-house may be considered where they moved from law-firm practice within approximately the last two years
  • Strong command of Australian corporate and commercial law
  • Native or fluent proficiency in English
  • Strong written communication and ability to explain legal reasoning precisely
  • Strong attention to legal accuracy, analytical consistency, and detail
  • Ability to work independently against structured rubrics and deadlines
  • Experience reviewing sophisticated legal research or written legal analysis is highly valued
  • Project work subject to confidentiality and NDA requirements
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, law firm, institution, or other third party
