Job Description
Data Science and Machine Learning Manager leading credit modeling and risk projects at fintech in Brazil. Responsible for technical execution and team collaboration to ensure data-driven decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the team's day-to-day execution, ensuring technical quality, delivery cadence, and integration with Product, Engineering, and Credit/Risk areas.
- Coordinate the team (daily routines, priorities, rituals, technical review) and ensure consistent deliveries.
- Lead credit and risk modeling projects, unified scoring, and feature engineering/feature store initiatives.
- Ensure best practices in validation, versioning, and reproducibility (datasets, features, models, experiments).
- Define and track team metrics: model lead time, automated decision rate, drift/stability, and business impact.
- Collaborate with Engineering/Data teams to enable features, integrations, and deployment (batch and/or real-time).
- Support the design and analysis of tests/experiments and impact analyses (uplift, avoided loss, savings).
- Ensure documentation and governance (model cards, approval criteria, monitoring, limits, and risks).
- Mentor specialists/analysts, supporting technical growth and best practices.
Requirements:
- Solid experience in Data Science/Machine Learning with a track record of models in production.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Strong foundation in statistics and supervised machine learning.
- Experience with scoring/risk problems (or similar: propensity, fraud, collections, churn with high criticality).
- Experience in data environments (Databricks/Spark or equivalent) and familiarity with cloud platforms.
- Ability to design metrics and monitor performance/stability (drift, PSI, calibration, degradation).
- Behavioral skills: technical leadership with a collaborative approach (mentoring, feedback, alignment).
- Organization and discipline for execution (planning, deadlines, visibility).
- Clear communication to translate technical complexity into business decisions.
- Proactivity and ability to resolve cross-functional blockers.
- Focus on quality and impact.
