Job Description
Data Science Intern analyzing and normalizing data for Wurl’s streaming technology platform. Improving data products through anomaly detection, validation, and machine learning support.
Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis tasks to identify anomalies and their root causes
- Propose and implement validations to programmatically identify anomalous conditions
- Propose methods to normalize data, implement them, check accuracy, and iterate until sufficient accuracy is achieved
- Increase the accuracy of derived datasets and data products
- Become familiar with Wurl’s datasets and their usage
- Support the Data Science and Machine Learning team
Requirements:
- Proven academic achievements in data analytics-related fields
- PhD/MSc preferred; BSc with high GPA, multiple majors, or notable projects accepted
- Degree field in Data Science, AI/ML, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science
- Knowledge of graph algorithms and network analysis
- Experience with large-scale data analysis
- Knowledge of data quality and anomaly detection
- Agentic/AI-assisted software development
- Familiarity with distributed data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks
- Strong Python and SQL
- Applied statistics and probability
- Machine learning fundamentals
- Experiment design and causal reasoning
- Optimization/decision-making under uncertainty
- Ability to write clean, maintainable analytical code
- Non-agentic development experience is mandatory
- Ability to evaluate models beyond headline metrics
- Experience moving from research idea to prototype to validated result
- Ability to translate ambiguous problems into mathematical or statistical formulations
- Strong intuition for uncertainty, bias, variance, and noisy data
- Strong quantitative reasoning and mathematical knowledge
- Advanced analytical problem-solving ability
- Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills
- Ability to form and test hypotheses quickly
- High intellectual curiosity, ownership, initiative, and independent thinking
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as a team player
