Job Description
Design Engineer creating accurate CAD drawing packages for Divcon’s building automation, HVAC, electrical, and mission-critical systems. Supporting permitting, fabrication, submittals, and field installation.
Responsibilities:
- Create and revise 2D CAD drawings, including floor plans, wiring diagrams, device layouts, control schematics, and riser diagrams
- Translate engineer and designer markups into clean, accurate drawings
- Update and organize CAD files, layers, title blocks, and drawing standards
- Prepare as-built drawings from field markups and installation changes
- Assist with project submittal packages, control diagrams, and detail sheets
- Collaborate with designers, engineers, project managers, and field technicians to align drawings with design intent and field conditions
- Incorporate mechanical, electrical, and architectural backgrounds to place devices and equipment correctly
- Participate in internal drawing reviews for accuracy and project compliance
- Communicate inconsistencies or missing information in sketches and specifications
- Ensure drawings comply with company standards, templates, and file-naming conventions
- Maintain version control and document revisions throughout the project lifecycle
- Check drawings for dimensional accuracy, clarity, and constructability
Requirements:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D required)
- Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings
- Strong understanding of drafting principles, layers, scaling, lineweights, and annotation standards
- High attention to detail and accuracy in drawing production
- Ability to work from verbal instructions, sketches, markups, and redline drawings
- Strong organization and time-management skills
- Preferred experience drafting for HVAC, electrical, controls, or MEP projects
- Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD Electrical, or Bluebeam
- Basic understanding of building systems, including HVAC, lighting, and control devices
- Experience with control diagrams, one-lines, or schematics
- Associate degree or certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a similar field
