Job Description

Director of Data Science leading the evolution of Jobber’s Analytics and Insights organization. Driving AI and ML strategies to enable smarter, data-driven decisions in a tech-driven small business landscape.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the evolution of Jobber’s Analytics and Insights organization from insight generation to automated intelligence
  • Responsible for building and scaling Jobber’s data science team and practice
  • Develop predictive models, experimentation frameworks, and AI analytic capabilities that drive automation, efficiency, and growth
  • Enable Jobber to move faster and make smarter, data-driven decisions through advanced analytics and self-service empowerment
  • Design, refine, and deploy ML models while supporting team members’ career, technical and methodological growth

Requirements:

  • The ability to define, execute and lead data science strategy development in alignment with the 3-Year Analytics and Insights plan, focusing on predictive analytics, automation, and AI-driven decision-making
  • A track record of success leading a data science team in development of predictive and prescriptive models that drive and support an organization’s growth strategy
  • A track record of success leading and implementing an experimentation framework to accelerate learning and decision confidence
  • Experience with the development of data products to enable organizational self service including the use of AI / LLMs
  • Experience with a rigorous decision science framework and governance function to ensure models and experiments are performant and accurate
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire teams and influence senior stakeholders
  • Exceptional written and oral communication
  • Strong command of modern data stacks (e.g., dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, AWS/GCP, MLflow)
  • A thoughtful and effective approach to performance management
  • Comfort with budgets. You will be responsible for the Data Science Team Budget. You should have experience managing a budget, working with Finance teams and managing vendors.
  • Familiarity using our tech stack: AWS, Redshift, DBT, Tableau, Metabase (highly desired, but not a dealbreaker)
  • Experience with risk and financial modelling (highly desired, but not a dealbreaker)
  • Quantitative degree (Math, Engineering, etc.) (highly desired, but not a dealbreaker)
  • Proven experience leading 3+ teams as a manager of managers (highly desired, but not a dealbreaker)
