Job Description
HR Director leading people strategy, compliance, benefits, and talent programs at RSG, a research and analytics firm serving transportation and energy clients.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day Human Resources function and lead the HR team
- Collaborate with executive leadership on workforce staffing, recruiting, development, and retention strategies
- Provide HR counsel to managers and senior leaders on employee relations, performance, staffing, compensation, organizational changes, and people-related decisions
- Collaborate with Finance and Payroll on employee data management and payroll processing
- Develop and manage the HR departmental budget
- Lead HR professional development, training, and certification activities
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and implement HR policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Oversee recruiting, leave administration, employee relations, reasonable accommodation requests, performance management, recognition, occupational health and safety, and employee training and development
- Oversee HRIS administration, use, reporting, and continuous improvement
- Monitor total rewards and benefits programs and manage relationships with benefits vendors and brokers
- Oversee administration of retirement and ownership plans, including the 401(k) and ESOP, and support ERISA audits and filings
- Oversee onboarding programs supporting engagement, inclusion, and early success
- Align HR programs, communication, and services with organizational culture, inclusion goals, and strategic priorities
- Partner with leaders on staffing and recruiting needs and talent management practices
- Lead the performance management process and oversee use of Lattice Performance Management Software
- Mitigate legal risk through training, conflict-management systems, harassment/discrimination investigations, and respectful workplace practices
- Promote inclusive diversity initiatives
- Lead employee engagement initiatives, surveys, communications, and related activities
- Maintain knowledge of HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and technologies
- Communicate HR policy, practice, and resource changes to executive leadership
- Support HR due diligence and employee integration for acquisitions
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field is required
- Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in the Human Resources field, including at least 3 years managing HR operations and staff in a leadership capacity, is required
- SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), HRCI Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR), or an equivalent senior-level certification is preferred
- Experience with an ESOP highly desired
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong supervisory and administrative leadership skills
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Able to move comfortably between broader organizational priorities and hands-on HR execution in a lean organization
- Emotionally intelligent, mission-driven, flexible, influential with a very high degree of personal integrity, including the ability to manage sensitive or confidential information
- Listens to understand, focuses on the root causes of issues, and makes connections between qualitative and quantitative information
- Demonstrated ability to execute strategic and operational priorities
- Skilled in developing, drafting, and implementing employment policies
- Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations, including those applicable across different states and levels of government
- Experience administering human resources information systems (HRIS); able to lead HRIS strategy, implementation, and ongoing enhancements
- Experience supporting a professional services firm, ideally with a focus on public sector or government clients
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Must be able to efficiently exchange and retain accurate information
