Job Description

Director of Finance leading financial strategy, planning, and governance for The Nature Conservancy’s Oceania conservation programs. Advising regional leaders across Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Solomon Islands.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and oversight across The Nature Conservancy's Oceania region
  • Lead regional finance strategies, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, compliance, risk management, and financial governance
  • Partner with Business Unit Leads, Finance & Operations teams, regional leadership, Development, Conservation, Operations, and global finance teams
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and Boards
  • Ensure financial resources are managed effectively and risks are identified and mitigated
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and statutory obligations
  • Promote consistency in financial management practices and strengthen organizational effectiveness
  • Provide leadership and direction to Finance personnel across Oceania
  • Contribute to regional and global initiatives advancing TNC's mission and strategic objectives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years related experience or equivalent combination
  • Significant experience in accounting, financial management, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial analysis
  • Experience providing strategic financial advice and business partnering support to senior leaders
  • Experience developing and overseeing complex budgets and long-term financial plans
  • Experience managing geographically dispersed teams and working across multiple countries or jurisdictions
  • Experience leading and developing finance professionals
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, projects, and organizational initiatives simultaneously
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams across multiple organizational levels
  • Experience interpreting and applying financial policies, regulatory requirements, and internal control
  • Experience developing, managing and implementing multiple projects and strategic goals
  • Fluent English is required for programs outside the US
  • Successful applicant must meet The Nature Conservancy's background screening requirements
