Job Description

Director leading global trade compliance for Voyager’s space, defense, and national security technology company. Overseeing export controls, customs, sanctions, licensing, and compliance operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company's international trade compliance strategy and operations
  • Serve as Export Control Officer and empowered official
  • Own and evolve the global trade compliance program covering export controls, import/customs compliance, sanctions, and anti-boycott regulations
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and internal controls across all jurisdictions where Voyager operates or sells
  • Oversee product and technology classification, including ECCN, USML, and HTS, and manage export, re-export, and transfer licensing
  • Manage customs valuation, country-of-origin determinations, tariff classification, and duty management
  • Lead screening for denied/restricted parties, sanctioned countries, and embargoed entities
  • Conduct risk assessments and internal audits and drive remediation of identified gaps
  • Lead responses to compliance incidents, voluntary self-disclosures, and government inquiries
  • Advise leadership and engineering, sales, supply chain, and M&A teams on trade compliance risks
  • Build, mentor, and manage a growing trade compliance team
  • Report to the Chief Legal Officer as part of the Legal department

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in global trade compliance, export controls, or customs, ideally in aerospace, defense, or advanced technology
  • Strong operational knowledge of ITAR, EAR, OFAC sanctions programs, and U.S. customs/import regulations
  • Direct experience interfacing with BIS, DDTC, CBP, or OFAC
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and comfort advising senior executives
  • Must be a U.S. Person: a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)
  • Must be eligible to obtain required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce
  • Preferred: experience in the space, satellite, or defense sectors
  • Preferred: certification such as Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO) or Certified Customs Specialist
  • Preferred: experience with global expansion, M&A due diligence, or multinational supply chains
