Job Description
Finance & Controlling Manager building controlling, forecasting, liquidity planning, and margin analysis for a growing German sustainable e-commerce brand. Reporting directly to management.
Responsibilities:
- Build the controlling function from the ground up
- Establish a KPI scorecard and a single source of truth
- Prepare ongoing run-rate analyses, budget plans, and rolling forecasts with scenario planning
- Build dashboards featuring key metrics such as CAC, MER, advertising cost ratio, and contribution margin after advertising
- Conduct rolling 13-week cash flow planning and plan the pre-financing of international production
- Identify fast-moving and slow-moving products
- Calculate bundles and determine contribution margins by product and variant
- Monitor ERP purchasing
- Calculate new products, including landed costs, customs duties, and MOQs
- Renegotiate supplier terms and conditions
- Prepare make-or-buy analyses and investment calculations
- Challenge payment terms, service providers, and agencies through data-driven analysis
- Provide commercial support for international production, new product lines, and investment decisions
- Report directly to management and serve as the central point of contact for commercial and financial matters
Requirements:
- Degree or vocational training in business administration, finance, controlling, or a comparable field
- Solid experience in controlling or finance, ideally in e-commerce or the physical-goods retail sector
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and a BI tool such as Power BI or Looker Studio
- Experience with forecasting, cash flow planning, contribution margin/margin analysis, and inventory data
- Ability to independently drive commercial and financial projects
- Fluent German; English is a plus
- Hands-on, pragmatic approach with a strong commitment to seeing projects through to completion
