Job Description
Financial Analyst supporting forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and business partnering at Smalls, a premium fresh cat food and lifestyle brand. Building models and automated FP&A processes.
Responsibilities:
- Provide financial analysis, reporting, and business partnering across functions
- Support the Strategic Finance Manager with recurring and strategic forecasting and planning
- Own components of the budgeting and in-year re-forecast cycle end to end
- Gather data, build financial models, and perform variance analysis
- Support financial close by producing source materials
- Coordinate accurate and timely accruals with cross-functional partners
- Build automated reporting and FP&A processes
- Leverage AI tools and/or FP&A software to improve finance workflows
- Inform operational and strategic decisions through FP&A
- Collaborate closely with Operations and other cross-functional partners
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- 2–4 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, accounting, or a related analytical role
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Ability to build a forecast and variance analysis from scratch
- Solid grasp of the three financial statements and their drivers
- Ability to connect operational KPIs to financial line items
- Strong communication skills for explaining variances to non-finance stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners
- Nice to have: familiarity with AI tools such as Claude Code or Codex
- Nice to have: experience automating finance-specific workflows or using AI to improve output
- Nice to have: BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
- Nice to have: planning tools such as Vena, Pigment, Data Rails, or Cube
- Nice to have: ERP exposure, including NetSuite
- Nice to have: auditing exposure
- Nice to have: consumer, CPG, or DTC experience
