Job Description

Lead Accountant managing corporate financials, trust accounting, and property-level controls. Supporting a technology-driven property management company operating 560+ single-family homes across U.S. markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all accounting operations, from corporate financials to trust accounting compliance
  • Maintain and manage the corporate general ledger and financial statements
  • Oversee cash management, intercompany transactions, and internal controls
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and variance analyses
  • Support strategic planning, cash flow forecasting, and KPI reporting
  • Review and approve property management accounting entries for compliance and accuracy
  • Reconcile trust bank accounts and ensure adherence to trust accounting standards
  • Audit owner statements, management fees, and reserve balances
  • Supervise internal or third-party accountants handling property-level financials
  • Manage owner distributions, management fees, and reserves
  • Review vendor invoices, GL coding, and utility billables
  • Audit and reconcile bank accounts and corporate credit cards (Divvy)
  • Oversee Section 8 and tenant payment postings, refunds, and move-out accounting
  • Prepare and distribute 1099s and support annual tax filings
  • Maintain audit-ready financial documentation and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate with external auditors, CPAs, and vendors as needed
  • Manage and develop accounting team members or oversee outsourced accounting partners
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams
  • Contribute to monthly financial reviews and provide actionable insights

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • At least 2 years in property management or real estate accounting
  • Strong knowledge of trust accounting
  • Experience with Rentvine or similar PMS
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • English: C1 or higher
  • Availability to work U.S. business hours (EST or CST)
