Job Description
Project Initiation Manager overseeing clinical trial setup, team operations, and process improvement at LabConnect. Coordinating clinical laboratory workflows to meet client quality and timeline requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily Project Initiation operations and lead the team toward organizational goals
- Serve as the first point of contact for management issues related to setup of new or amended clinical trials
- Coordinate with internal functional departments on database setup and study needs
- Maintain communication with directors and managers regarding operational changes
- Evaluate process flows and identify improvement opportunities
- Create or oversee training materials, templates, job aids, and SOPs
- Implement lessons learned and process changes across Project Initiation and impacted departments
- Develop tools to monitor process effectiveness and support evaluation initiatives
- Ensure new clinical test procedures and IT database validations are completed and acceptable before specimen receipt and reporting
- Assist with interviewing and hiring Project Initiation staff
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and departmental metrics reporting
- Directly supervise Project Initiation team members as needed
- Assign clinical trial protocols to meet quality and timeline requirements
- Mentor and train new team members
- Coach, develop, and retain associates through performance management and career development
- Perform additional related tasks supporting departmental and organizational goals
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university with minimum of 5 years’ setup-related and/or project management experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a substitute for the specified education and experience
- Experience in customer service
- Excellent organization, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail, planning, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills
- Listening and verbal comprehension skills, including translating client needs to team members
- Ability to make well-thought-out decisions and adapt to changing environments and requirements
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to adhere to established timelines, processes, and procedures
- Customer service/client relationship management skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures
- Ability to write business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Ability to present information and respond to managers’ and clients’ questions
- Ability to perform calculations and manage budgets
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to clinical trial budget management and metrics analysis
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions
- Minimal travel requirement
