Job Description
Medical Illustrator leading scientific direction for diverse healthcare education projects involving immersive media. Ensuring scientific accuracy and production quality while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead scientific planning and direction across multiple concurrent projects
- Define anatomy scope, interaction logic, and asset requirements
- Own and develop production guides (PGs) as the scientific foundation for each project
- Balance scientific accuracy, clinical relevance, and technical feasibility
- Conduct ongoing scientific QA throughout production
- Validate anatomy accuracy, interaction logic, clinical relevance, and edge cases
- Provide structured, actionable feedback to 3D and production teams
- Translate complex clinical concepts into clear, production-ready direction for a team of 3D artists and engineers to execute
- Develop storyboards, science briefs, and supporting documentation
- Act as the bridge between clients, account teams, and production
- Collaborate across disciplines to drive efficient workflows
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail
Requirements:
- Background in medical illustration, biomedical visualization, or a related field with strong anatomy or clinical expertise
- Experience leading science or content direction for immersive media (XR/VR/AR) and QA’ing deliverables
- Strong understanding of 3D production pipelines and technical constraints
- Proven ability to translate client feedback into clear, actionable production guidance
- Experience creating storyboards, production guides, or similar pre-production documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and visual communication skills
- Access to a Meta Quest 3 device for QA
- Experience with medical device or procedural training content (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana or Notion (Nice to Have)
