Job Description
Medical Science Liaison advancing Merz Therapeutics’ pharmaceutical and medical device portfolio across Texas and Oklahoma. Building key opinion leader relationships, supporting clinical trials, and delivering scientific education.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with regional, national, and international key opinion leaders across Neurology, Adult Physical Rehabilitation Medicine, and ENT
- Respond to and document unsolicited medical information requests from healthcare providers and payers
- Develop and implement educational messaging plans for Merz Therapeutics products
- Manage scientific exchange and provide fair-balanced scientific responses to managed-care decision makers
- Support grants, investigator-initiated trials, advocacy/speaking opportunities, and educational requests
- Maintain clinical knowledge of the Merz Therapeutics portfolio and competitors
- Provide competitive intelligence to internal stakeholders
- Plan and manage medical congress activities, calendars, meetings, and key opinion leader engagements
- Educate congress faculty on portfolio science and identify educational opportunities
- Observe relevant medical meeting sessions, address misinformation, and prepare post-meeting reports
- Serve as assigned product lead expert for clinical and scientific commercial needs
- Create brand workshops, training sessions, medical affairs presentations, and scientific materials
- Execute scientific and clinical workshops for internal meetings
- Facilitate investigator-initiated trials, including milestones, recruitment, enrollment, and publication planning
- Provide Medical/Clinical teams with insights from thought leaders and investigators
- Facilitate investigator interactions with R&D
- Assist with Medical Affairs advisory boards to identify knowledge gaps, resolve problems, support product development, and build treatment-guideline consensus
- Travel throughout the assigned Texas and Oklahoma territory for key opinion leader visits, managed markets meetings, and medical meetings
Requirements:
- Must live near a major airport in the Texas and Oklahoma territory
- Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD or MD)
- At least one year MSL or related industry experience
- Adhere to corporate SOPs and comply with legal and regulatory guidelines governing scientific interactions
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory guidelines governing commercial and scientific interactions
- Maintain adherence to company compliance policies and government regulations
- Working knowledge of PhRMA and AdvaMed Code and FDA regulations regarding marketing prescription drug and medical device products
- Strong clinical knowledge in relevant therapeutic areas
- Business acumen and working knowledge of the therapeutics/neurosciences industry and medical device/pharmaceutical regulatory and compliance environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings
- Strong multitasking, time management, and organizational skills
- Willingness and ability to travel at least 60%, including possible weekends and overnights
