Job Description
Remote part-time outpatient profee coder abstracting physician services and diagnoses for Infinx, a healthcare revenue-cycle technology company. Correcting claims, applying ICD-10 coding, and supporting reimbursement accuracy for healthcare providers.
Responsibilities:
- Review medical records thoroughly and abstract physicians’ professional services and diagnosis codes
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10 codes and modifiers according to Official Coding Guidelines
- Provide documentation feedback to clients and account managers
- Maintain coding reference information
- Review and communicate new or revised billing and coding guidelines with providers and assigned specialties
- Resolve pre-accounts receivable edits
- Identify and report repetitive documentation problems and system issues
- Correct incorrectly billed services, add missing unbilled services, provide missing data, and correct CPT and ICD-10 codes and modifiers
- Collaborate with Patient Accounting and other operational areas on coding reimbursement assistance
- Help identify and resolve incorrect claim issues and assist with drafting appeal letters
- Work with Revenue Cycle staff and Account Inquiry Unit staff as requested
- Assist in obtaining documentation such as notes and operative reports
- Provide additional code and modifier information
- Meet minimum coding productivity and quality standards for each encounter type
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- AHIMA or AAPC certification required
- CPC, CPC-M, CPMA, CEMC, or CCS-P preferred
- Experience with Epic
- 1+ years of experience in outpatient profee medical coding
- Ability to work independently and within a team atmosphere
- Advanced and proficient knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10 coding
- Self-motivated and passionate about the company’s mission and values
- Professional-level skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Proficient typing skills and effective pace
- Proficient application of business/office standard processes and technical applications
- Ability and willingness to work part-time, 20–30 hours per week
- Ability and willingness to work between 6am and 8pm Central, Monday through Friday
- Must be a current resident of the United States
