Job Description
Principal AI architect building conversational search and commerce orchestration for OleOle’s global football super app. Designing LLM, agent, retrieval, and recommendation systems across real-time sports services.
Responsibilities:
- Design and lead the architecture of a next-generation conversational AI platform replacing traditional search with intelligent dialogue
- Own systems that understand user intent and determine the information needed to satisfy requests
- Retrieve data from multiple real-time providers and reason across competing options
- Generate conversational responses that guide users from discovery to transaction
- Architect the AI orchestration layer coordinating large language models, specialized agents, retrieval systems, recommendation engines, and external APIs
- Assemble and rank information from ticketing providers, hotels, airlines, restaurants, transportation, maps, weather, and other third-party data sources
- Design AI-native systems for multi-step task planning, conversational context, tool execution, result ranking, and recommendation adaptation based on user feedback
- Define technical vision and establish architectural standards
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and make long-term decisions on LLM strategy, retrieval architecture, agent design, memory management, semantic search, vector databases, knowledge graphs, and AI evaluation frameworks
- Mentor senior engineers, architects, and principal engineers
- Collaborate with Principal Architects across backend infrastructure, payments, blockchain, messaging, mini-programs, and platform services
- Ensure seamless ecosystem integration with scalability, reliability, performance, and user experience
Requirements:
- Proven experience architecting and delivering production-scale AI platforms used by large numbers of users
- Demonstrated leadership as a Principal Engineer, Chief Architect, Distinguished Engineer, or equivalent senior technical role
- Deep expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, multi-agent systems, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), semantic search, and modern AI orchestration frameworks
- Strong understanding of recommendation engines, ranking algorithms, personalization, and conversational AI
- Extensive experience designing distributed, cloud-native systems capable of operating at global scale with high availability and low latency
- Hands-on experience integrating complex third-party APIs and building systems that combine multiple real-time data sources into a unified experience
- Exceptional architectural judgment with the ability to simplify complex technical problems into scalable, maintainable solutions
- Proven ability to lead senior engineering teams, mentor architects and principal engineers, establish engineering standards, and make long-term technical decisions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and executive leadership
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building category-defining products and solving problems that have not been solved before
- A track record of shipping ambitious, innovative products rather than simply maintaining existing platforms
- Creative problem solver who can courageously propose and support new ideas
- Ability to adapt and use a wide array of technologies
- Comfortable with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and growing pains of an early-stage technology company
- Exceptional entrepreneurial judgment that fosters independence over micro-management
- Understanding of football and international sports is a huge plus
- Experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, open-source language models, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, DSPy, vector databases, graph databases, and modern AI infrastructure is highly desirable
