Job Description

Public Accountant preparing 1120, 1120S, and 1065 returns for a South Florida CPA practice. Managing QuickBooks write-ups, tax work papers, client documentation, and partner review workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare complete 1120, 1120S, and 1065 corporate tax returns
  • Input income, expense, and balance sheet data into CCH Axcess, including M-1 book-to-tax reconciliations
  • Manage 40–60 returns per season during filing peaks
  • Assemble work papers and document assumptions for partner review
  • Analyze QuickBooks files for negative balances, miscategorized transactions, and missing accounts
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries and perform year-end close procedures and reconciliations
  • Translate P&L and balance sheet data into tax work papers
  • Request missing documentation directly from clients via email and phone
  • Flag unusual items for partner review and ask clarifying questions about unreconciled financials
  • Track return status, deadlines, and deliverables in Canopy
  • Participate in bi-weekly video check-ins and daily Microsoft Teams communication
  • Maintain organized digital work papers in compliance with IT security protocols

Requirements:

  • 3+ years in a small-to-midsize public accounting or CPA firm serving multiple clients across multiple industries
  • Hands-on preparation of 1120, 1120S, and 1065 corporate tax returns, with 40+ returns completed in a single season
  • Experience with commercial US tax software: CCH Axcess, Lacerte, UltraTax, or GoSystem
  • QuickBooks Online and/or Desktop proficiency, including adjusting journal entries, reconciliations, and book-to-tax cleanup
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • C1+ English (CEFR)
  • Availability Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM ET, plus 4 hours on Saturdays during tax season
  • Business-level Spanish fluency preferred
  • Foreign tax compliance exposure, including Form 5471 and FBAR, preferred
  • IRS notice and correspondence handling experience preferred
  • Enrolled Agent credential or CPA license from any jurisdiction preferred
  • Prior review or supervision of junior tax preparers preferred
