Job Description
Relay Engineer focusing on testing and commissioning protection relays in India's power sector. Role requires strong technical skills and field project involvement.
Responsibilities:
- Configure, test, and troubleshoot Schneider P3, Micom, and Siemens Siprotec 5 series protection relays
- Perform logic checking and modifications in Easergy P3, Micom (P643), and Siprotec 7SD82 relays
- Conduct line and transformer differential protection testing and REF protection checks
- Verify zone and out-zone protection stability during relay testing
- Execute ATS and momentary parallel logic validation
- Check upstream and downstream interlocks and system interconnections
- Witness CT, PT, VCB, and ACB testing and recommend corrective actions when required
- Troubleshoot VCB breaker mechanisms and related components
- Configure LTMR Tesys-T relays and implement motor auto re-acceleration schemes
- Inspect switchgear installations and provide recommendations for corrections or improvements
- Ensure proper documentation of testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
Requirements:
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in protection relay configuration, testing, and commissioning
- Strong understanding of differential protection, motor protection, and relay logic schemes
- Experience in relay programming and logic modification across multiple relay platforms
- Good knowledge of switchgear systems, interlocks, and breaker mechanisms
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
- Willingness to travel across project sites within India
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field
