Job Description

Research & Writing Attorney supporting Parnall Law Firm’s New Mexico personal injury practice. Researching law and drafting motions, briefs, memoranda, and discovery analysis for trial teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Research New Mexico and applicable law on liability, damages, coverage, and procedural issues in personal injury and premises liability matters
  • Monitor and summarize developments in New Mexico case law, statutes, and court rules
  • Prepare motions, responses, briefs, and legal memoranda for pre-litigation and litigation case teams
  • Draft discovery-related legal analysis and assist with pleadings
  • Collaborate with trial attorneys and Team Leads to identify legal issues, anticipate defense arguments, and strengthen case positions
  • Provide research support for settlement negotiations, mediation, and trial preparation
  • Deliver timely, well-supported written work product meeting firm quality standards
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure cases move efficiently through the process

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in New Mexico, or eligibility for admission
  • Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills
  • Ability to translate research into persuasive, well-supported drafts
  • Experience drafting motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation documents
  • Personal injury or civil litigation experience preferred
  • Insurance defense or appellate background is a plus
  • Ability to collaborate with trial attorneys and Team Leads across multiple case teams
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines
