Job Description
Risk Claims Manager managing auto liability, property damage, and workers’ compensation claims for a freight transportation company. Investigating losses, coordinating insurers and counsel, and reducing claim exposure.
Responsibilities:
- Personally investigate and manage the company's claims
- Work with insurance companies to set claim reserves
- Identify claims requiring escalation and gather relevant information for resolution
- Manage property damage, auto damage, and workers' compensation claims
- Handle serious losses, retain and direct defense counsel, and attend mediations and depositions as needed
- Provide customer service to insureds and claimants by phone
- Prepare statistical reports of claims activity and submit reports/findings
- Lead claim file reviews as requested
- Ensure appropriate measures are taken to minimize claim losses and comply with government regulations
- Communicate and behave professionally and collaboratively with all employees
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- At least seven (7) years of extensive claims experience in a senior-level, individual-contributor claims role
- Extensive knowledge of liability claims administration, including litigation avoidance
- Thorough understanding of complex medical treatments, treatment outcomes, tort, venue, and jurisdictional matters
- Highly developed investigative and analytical skills
- Demonstrated success exercising independent decision-making, problem-solving, and effective negotiation skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills
- Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software
- Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel preferred
