Job Description

Security Analyst preventing and investigating cyber incidents for GuidePoint Security, a cybersecurity solutions and services provider. Monitoring SIEM, networks, endpoints, and logs across U.S. Eastern Time operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prevent security incidents proactively rather than only responding to them
  • Investigate security events using SIEM tools and create, run, and tune SPL queries
  • Analyze Indicators of Compromise (IOCs), network traffic, logs, and endpoint data to identify anomalies and threats
  • Interpret logs from servers, firewalls, and applications
  • Correlate logs across cybersecurity tools to detect threat patterns
  • Perform triage, containment, and threat eradication
  • Analyze complex situations and formulate potential attack theories
  • Use scripting and regular expressions for data parsing and investigations
  • Support vulnerability management and scanning activities
  • Apply cloud security practices and tools
  • Use emerging technologies, including AI tools, to solve problems and improve business outcomes
  • Document incidents and collaborate with analysts, IT teams, and external stakeholders
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Stay current on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and threat actor tactics, techniques, and procedures

Requirements:

  • Candidate must currently live in the U.S.-based eastern time zone (EST)
  • Experience with SIEM tools and ability to create, run, and tune SPL queries
  • Understanding of Indicators of Compromise (IOCs)
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and similar protocols
  • Ability to analyze network traffic and identify anomalies
  • Knowledge of endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools
  • Experience with antivirus and malware analysis
  • Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and incident response frameworks
  • Hands-on experience in triage, containment, and threat eradication
  • Ability to analyze and monitor logs and formulate attack theories
  • Ability to interpret logs from servers, firewalls, and applications
  • Ability to identify patterns and detect threats through log correlation
  • Basic proficiency in Python, Bash, and PowerShell
  • Ability to use regular expressions (regex) for data parsing
  • Understanding of vulnerability management and scanning
  • Familiarity with cloud security practices and tools such as AWS GuardDuty and Microsoft Defender for Cloud
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to make informed decisions under pressure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Keen observational skills to identify anomalies and patterns
  • Ability to collaborate with analysts, IT teams, and external stakeholders
  • Ability to remain calm and flexible in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
  • Understanding of threat actor tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
  • Familiarity with emerging threats and vulnerabilities and ability to obtain relevant threat-investigation information
  • Experience managing real-world incidents
  • Knowledge of forensic tools preferred
  • Previous SOC or similar-role experience preferred
  • Preferred certifications: CompTIA Security+, GCIH, CISSP, or CEH
