Job Description

Senior Director overseeing AP Reading publications and quality assurance at College Board. Leading strategic initiatives and ensuring the integrity of AP assessments.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end strategy, development, and quality assurance of AP Reading publications.
  • Direct the annual planning and execution of AP post-administration publication templates, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Drive the strategic transformation of AP Reading publication delivery.
  • Architect and manage scoring guideline templates for AP Reading, AP Central, and AP Classroom.
  • Lead the coordination and execution of spring scoring guideline reviews across all subjects and exam forms.
  • Partner with the Publications team and external vendors to optimize tools, processes, and timelines for the annual export and integration of free-response scoring assets.
  • Ensure AP assessment team compliance with IACET CEU accreditation standards.
  • Champion innovation by leading pilot projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Strategize and implement enterprise-wide scheduling and performance tracking systems.
  • Oversee the configuration, validation, and quality assurance of annual scoring systems and applications.
  • Evaluate cross-subject free-response performance data.
  • Engineer advanced scoring Smartsheets for central planning workbooks for the AP Reading.
  • Lead the management of the annual AP C&A Reading risk and escalation log.
  • Facilitate annual retrospective data collection and analysis with assessment content teams.
  • Quantify and communicate the effectiveness of AP Reading preparation and training efforts through data-driven impact reporting.

Requirements:

  • 7–10 years of experience in product, program, editorial, and/or project management, preferably within educational assessment or related sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a content area aligned with an AP subject, education, or business; Master’s or advanced degree preferred.
  • Deep expertise in the AP Program, assessment design principles, and scoring practices, including free-response items, rubric and scoring guideline development, and task model frameworks.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong working knowledge of publication workflows and accessibility standards related to educational assessments and web-based content (preferred).
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with a proven ability to lead high-stakes, cross-functional initiatives under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Proficient in designing, managing, and interpreting dashboards and performance visualizations to support strategic planning and reporting.
  • Technically skilled in project management and collaboration platforms, including Jira, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Power BI, and retrospective tools (Smartsheet Certification strongly preferred)
  • High level of technical fluency, with the ability to rapidly learn new technologies and a strong interest in leveraging automation and enterprise AI for operational efficiency.
  • Willing and able to travel 6–8 times per year, including 3–4 consecutive weeks during May–June to support annual AP Reading events.
