Job Description

Senior Electrical Estimator managing electrical cost estimates and commercial controls for Turner & Townsend’s major semiconductor facility projects. Supporting procurement, tenders, change orders, and quantity take-offs.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present electrical cost estimates and quantity take-offs
  • Provide commercial management for complex electrical building services and process utility installations
  • Advise clients on procurement strategies
  • Manage vendor prequalification and assess proposals, bids, change orders, and bid levelling documents
  • Make final recommendations to clients
  • Attend and chair bid interviews and manage the appointment process
  • Evaluate contractor and subcontractor tenders and prepare commercial recommendations
  • Review, validate, and negotiate variations, change orders, and compensation events
  • Provide side-by-side cost comparisons
  • Review change orders and validate quantities, rates, and scopes against industry practices and contract documents
  • Understand Class 2 estimates and self-perform Class 3 estimates where warranted
  • Manage, review, and present estimates of complicated change orders
  • Benchmark performance against other successful commissions
  • Assist with change management in a fast-track design and construction environment
  • Use Bid Analysis Sheets, Change Control Forms, cost estimating software, and take-off software
  • Provide commercial management support for specialist electrical systems
  • Adhere to applicable SOX control responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a quantity surveying and/or estimating role in the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts
  • RICS accredited or working towards it is valuable
  • Experience supporting cost management on medium or large sized construction projects
  • Construction consultancy experience strongly preferred
  • Good knowledge of procurement routes, value management, and value engineering
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with industrial technology, semiconductor, or data center projects is a plus
  • Experience with projects valued at +$500m; +$2b preferred
  • Knowledge of medium/low voltage, campus power distribution, and life safety systems
  • Proficiency with MS Suite, Bluebeam, digital cost management tools, and/or estimating software
  • BIM-based quantity extraction is a plus
  • Knowledge of semiconductor facility infrastructure and construction methodologies is a plus
  • Familiarity with NECA and RS Means is a plus
  • RICS certification is a plus
