Job Description
Senior Mechanical Engineer conducting thermal analysis of solid rocket motor components at General Dynamics OTS. Supporting munitions and missile subsystem engineering through design, testing, and customer collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Join the Solid Rocket Motor Engineering Team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer
- Conduct detailed thermal analysis of solid rocket motor components
- Apply engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair, and test mechanically functioning equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
- Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information
- Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data
- Evaluate design feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements
- Specify system components or direct product modifications for conformance with engineering and performance specifications
- Investigate equipment failures and diagnose faulty operation
- Make recommendations to maintenance crews
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams
- Interface with customers
- Drive technical excellence
- May lead projects or project steps and act as a resource for less-experienced colleagues
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience
- Engineering degree required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
