Job Description
Senior/Principal Data Engineer building scalable Databricks data platforms for RevoData, a boutique Data & AI consultancy. Shaping architecture, pipelines and client solutions across Europe.
Responsibilities:
- Shape how data platforms should be designed and operated
- Lead or take ownership of data platform initiatives from concept to implementation
- Make architectural decisions and improve platforms over time
- Design scalable Databricks foundations, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog and governance
- Orchestrate data workflows and structure code and deployments
- Design and build data flows from ingestion to consumption
- Build and maintain data models, data pipelines and ETL/ELT solutions
- Provide technical leadership and raise the capability of colleagues through reviews and discussions
- Challenge assumptions, explain trade-offs and guide decisions with engineers, product owners and CTOs
- Help clients unlock value from their data and build scalable platforms for real-world business use cases
- For candidates new to Databricks, complete a 7-month crash course involving certifications, hands-on client project work and internal knowledge-sharing, transitioning to a permanent contract after agreed milestones
Requirements:
- Experience leading or playing a key role in taking data platforms from idea to reality
- Experience making architectural decisions, owning outcomes and improving platforms
- Deep understanding of Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, governance, Workflows, code structure and deployments
- New-to-Databricks candidates with strong data platform experience may apply and specialise through the offered track
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience with data modelling and building data pipelines
- Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and cloud-based data solutions
- Ability to define approach, architecture and first steps for ambiguous data platform initiatives
- Ability to balance pragmatic delivery with quality and long-term design
- Ability to improve colleagues' technical capabilities through reviews and knowledge sharing
- Ability to influence technical and business decisions and explain trade-offs
- Databricks certifications are nice to have, including Data Engineer Professional and Machine Learning Engineer Professional
- Databricks Champion status is nice to have
