Job Description
Senior Rust Protocol Engineer developing Optimism’s open-source blockchain infrastructure. Building consensus clients, native account abstraction, and enterprise protocol capabilities at OP Labs.
Responsibilities:
- Own features through the full lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to documentation, deployment, and monitoring
- Work cross-functionally to create maximum impact
- Build rigorous conformance and adversarial tests to ensure implementation compatibility
- Execute safe protocol upgrades
- Resolve complex availability and performance issues
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools while maintaining rigorous standards for correctness, security, review, and technical ownership
- Develop kona-node and related Rust-based consensus-client infrastructure as a compatible, production-ready alternative to op-node
- Implement native account abstraction across the stack
- Develop premium protocol capabilities supporting OP Enterprise
Requirements:
- Professional record of shipping production software and maintainable Rust systems
- Deep knowledge of Ethereum, including EVM, JSON-RPC, and clients
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems
- Ability to navigate ambiguity
- Ability to communicate complex design decisions effectively
- Familiarity with op-node, kona, or Reth implementations (preferred)
- Ability to read and navigate production Go code while migrating behavior into Rust (preferred)
- Proficiency in Solidity for system-level smart contracts (bonus)
