Job Description

Senior Software Engineer building AI-enabled software for Workiva’s finance, risk, and sustainability platform. Designing services, testing solutions, debugging systems, and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement high-quality software solutions meeting business and technical requirements
  • Use AI tooling to accelerate development and enhance platform features
  • Collaborate with product owners, designers, and stakeholders to refine requirements and align with product strategy
  • Write clean, efficient, maintainable code following industry best practices
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback
  • Deliver and document team- or group-level technical solutions meeting customer expectations
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and automated unit, integration, and functional tests
  • Debug and troubleshoot complex issues across multiple service and application contexts
  • Collaborate with support teams to triage and resolve production issues
  • Participate in product discovery with customers and stakeholders
  • Establish KPIs and metrics to identify problems and drive continuous improvement
  • Mentor and coach engineers technically and culturally
  • Communicate complex technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of professional software development experience preferred
  • Strong foundation in computer science, including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented software design, and cloud-based distributed systems
  • Expertise in modern programming languages such as Dart, React, TypeScript, Go, Java, and/or Kotlin
  • Expertise in debugging complex systems or applications
  • Experience as a technical mentor preferred
  • Experience working in an agile development environment preferred
  • Experience developing for service-oriented architecture is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and adaptability skills
  • Commitment to staying up-to-date with new technologies and best practices in software engineering
  • Reliable internet access for remote work
