Job Description
Senior Employee Relations Specialist managing compliant employee exits and first-level workplace guidance across APAC. Supporting Remote’s global employment platform and improving lifecycle operations through automation.
Responsibilities:
- Independently manage and resolve complex end-to-end employee exits across multiple international jurisdictions.
- Advise clients on termination, resignation, transfer procedures, employment contracts, and redundancy processes.
- Lead client and external employee meetings, including workforce reduction consultations, administrative hearings, separation and settlement negotiations, and termination-outcome meetings.
- Influence and negotiate positive outcomes in complex terminations involving competing stakeholder interests.
- Coordinate with payroll, legal counsel, government bodies, trade unions, and other stakeholders on offboarding compliance and audits.
- Draft, tailor, and administer termination and supplementary documents while maintaining accurate, confidential employee records.
- Process offboarding in Remote’s internal HRIS platform with Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and Time and Attendance teams.
- Serve as an informal escalation point, mentoring and guiding junior team members.
- Provide first-level Employee Relations guidance and help clients navigate workplace concerns.
- Conduct preliminary assessments of workplace concerns and identify applicable regulations and potential paths forward.
- Track employee relations cases and coordinate timely follow-up.
- Resolve internal and external queries on offboarding and first-level employee relations matters.
- Identify and drive process improvements, automation, product development, and customer and employee experience enhancements.
- Determine methods, procedures, and standards for new assignments and adapt complex techniques to achieve results.
- Report to the Manager Employee Lifecycle, Employee Relations & Transitions, within the Lifecycle, Employee Relations & Transitions team.
Requirements:
- Experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner, with generalist HR competencies and exposure across the employee lifecycle.
- Proven experience independently managing voluntary and involuntary exits (terminations) with care, sensitivity and legal compliance.
- Comprehensive HR advice and guidance on employment laws and regulations spanning various jurisdictions.
- Understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline approaches, and workplace investigation fundamentals.
- Ability to interpret and apply industrial instruments and analyze complex HR issues.
- Ability to independently research issues and translate findings into usable team resources.
- Ability to provide practical solutions and communicate recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders in ambiguous and unfamiliar environments.
- Superior communication, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to independently lead difficult conversations toward positive outcomes.
- Business-level (advanced) proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Aptitude for process innovation, optimization, automation, and best-practice implementation.
- Efficiency in operations, thorough record-keeping, and data integrity.
- Tech-savvy; ability to collaborate asynchronously using various tools and adapt to evolving systems.
- Ability to work autonomously and cohesively in an international, fast-paced, asynchronous, remote environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
- Strong ownership, accountability, proactivity, and ability to inspire others.
- Strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
- Tertiary qualifications in HR/labour relations/employment law considered a plus.
