Job Description
Software Engineer building ThriveCart’s TypeScript commerce platform and replacing its legacy PHP system. Owning features end-to-end, production incidents, testing, and AI-augmented development.
Responsibilities:
- Build a new TypeScript system to replace the existing PHP system
- Maintain and support the current PHP system during the transition
- Own features from requirements through production, including decomposition, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and support
- Break feature requests into tasks, estimate work, and deliver independently
- Write clean, tested, production-ready code
- Make technical decisions and explain trade-offs
- Monitor production features using logs, metrics, and alerts
- Refactor, document, and reduce technical debt
- Investigate dev-escalations and participate in incident response
- Write runbooks and maintain documentation
- Participate in a shared on-call rotation
- Write unit and integration tests
- Participate actively in code reviews
- Work with Product, Design, QA, and engineering teams
- Contribute to sprint planning and technical discussions
- Mentor L1/L2 engineers at L3+
- Lead domain incident response and set AI tool standards at L4
Requirements:
- Active, hands-on TypeScript experience
- Past professional experience with PHP
- Hands-on experience integrating Stripe and PayPal is required
- Experience with TypeScript/Node.js
- Experience with PHP 7.4/8+ and Laravel
- Experience with MariaDB and Redis
- Experience with AWS services including EC2, RDS, CloudWatch, SQS, and S3
- Experience with Docker
- Experience with GitHub Actions CI/CD
- Ability to use AI coding tools daily for code generation, debugging, test writing, codebase exploration, and code review acceleration
- Ability to understand and evaluate AI-generated output
- Ability to write unit and integration tests
- Ability to participate in code reviews
- Ability to respond to incidents and dev-escalations
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation after ramp-up
