Job Description
Lead Developer driving enterprise Sitecore-to-Contentful migrations for Valtech, an experience innovation company. Leading engineering teams, AI-first development, and scalable Contentful solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Take technical ownership of engineering delivery for an enterprise Sitecore-to-Contentful migration covering content and application migration
- Lead the development team and establish engineering standards
- Ensure delivery of a scalable, maintainable Contentful-based solution
- Work with architects to shape migration options, Contentful implementation patterns and technical decisions
- Guide migration and modernisation of existing applications, including React frontends and supporting services
- Define content modelling, transformation, migration automation and validation approaches
- Coordinate engineering activities, resolve complex technical challenges and manage dependencies and delivery risks
- Remain hands-on for complex implementation, technical spikes and critical problem-solving
- Champion AI-first engineering and establish spec-driven development practices
- Identify AI applications for Sitecore analysis, content mapping, migration automation, code modernisation and testing
- Guide developers in using AI coding assistants and automated engineering workflows
- Establish review, security and quality practices for AI-generated code and migration outputs
- Drive experimentation, knowledge sharing and measurable productivity improvements through AI adoption
- Own engineering quality, implementation consistency and technical delivery outcomes
- Establish standards for code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, migration validation and release readiness
- Lead technical planning for migration, cutover, rollback and post-migration support
- Provide technical direction, mentoring and coaching to developers
- Act as a trusted technical contact for client stakeholders, architects and delivery teams
- Communicate technical risks, trade-offs and recommendations aligned with business objectives
Requirements:
- Significant engineering experience, including technical leadership of complex digital platform deliveries
- Proven experience with enterprise CMS migrations, replatforming or major headless CMS implementations
- Strong practical knowledge of Contentful, Sitecore and associated migration and integration challenges
- Strong understanding of React, TypeScript, API-driven architectures and application modernisation
- Experience leading engineering teams, making technical decisions and assuring delivery quality
- Practical experience with AI-assisted software development and ability to drive adoption of AI-native, spec-driven engineering practices
- Strong knowledge of automated testing, CI/CD, release processes and technical risk management
- Strong stakeholder communication, consultancy and technical leadership skills
- Desirable: previous technical leadership of a Sitecore-to-Contentful migration
- Desirable: experience with Next.js, Sitecore JSS and composable architecture
- Desirable: experience using AI to accelerate complex migrations, legacy application modernisation or engineering workflows
- Desirable: experience with multilingual, multisite or enterprise content platforms
