Job Description
Regulatory SHE solicitor advising Scottish clients on health, safety and environmental investigations. Handling prosecutions, inquiries, compliance matters and client development for DAC Beachcroft.
Responsibilities:
- Provide timely, professional and high-quality service to clients
- Work on a busy and varied caseload covering contentious and non-contentious regulatory issues for a variety of clients
- Act as a client point of contact in accordance with client protocols
- Assist with business development activities, including preparing and delivering pitches, presentations and training events
- Manage files in compliance with firm and client protocols, including billing, credit control, WIP, file closures and management information
- Take responsibility for quality control and benchmark compliance across own caseload
- Maintain understanding of other practice areas and an active internal network
- Develop technical knowledge through training, relevant publications and exceeding Law Society CPD requirements
- Advise individuals and organisations facing criminal investigations and prosecutions relating to corporate homicide, health and safety, fire safety, food safety and environmental law
- Advise on product safety and represent clients involved in Fatal Accident Inquiries
Requirements:
- At least 5 years PQE with experience gained within a regulatory and/or commercially focused environment, in private practice or elsewhere
- Ideally, experience advising on regulatory work including HSE/Police investigations, witness interviews, interviews under caution, prosecutions, sentencing hearings and inquiries
- Experience in environmental breaches, trading standards, product safety, food safety and fire safety beneficial
- Experience of business development and building client relationships
- Willingness to travel at short notice to assist clients on the ground
- Driving licence essential
- Excellent legal drafting, analytical and technical skills
- Ability to meet and exceed budgetary requirements in terms of time and fee income
