Job Description

Solicitor defending data breach and cyber-attack claims for DAC Beachcroft’s insurer and corporate clients. Managing complex civil litigation, client advice and trial preparation.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle a caseload of varied and complex claims
  • Investigate data breach claims, including claims arising from cyber-attacks and breaches of GDPR and Data Protection Acts
  • Advise insurers and corporate clients on claims and relevant pre-emptive issues
  • Conduct litigated and pre-litigation claims
  • Prepare defences through to trial where necessary
  • Attend conferences, trials and proofing witnesses
  • Prepare and supervise disclosure of sensitive documentation
  • Draft court documents
  • Attend trials and applications with counsel
  • Manage complex and sensitive case files
  • Develop paralegals within the team
  • Support team marketing and business development activity
  • Assume responsibility for quality control, benchmark compliance and accurate management information
  • Maintain and develop technical knowledge through online learning, training, seminars and relevant publications
  • Handle confidential information according to firm data security protocols

Requirements:

  • Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
  • Suitable experience handling civil claims
  • Previous experience dealing with data breach claims helpful but not essential
  • Willingness to assist with and run a caseload of civil claims
  • Ability to investigate data breach claims, including claims involving GDPR and Data Protection Acts
  • Ability to provide timely, commercially aware and sensitively drafted client advice
  • Ability to attend conferences, trials and proofing witnesses
  • Ability to prepare and supervise disclosure of sensitive documentation
  • Ability to draft court documents
  • Ability to manage complex and sensitive cases
  • Ability to achieve a minimum budgeted annual target of 1,440 chargeable hours
  • Ability to develop paralegals
  • Ability to support marketing and business development activity
  • Ability to maintain technical knowledge through training and professional development
  • Ability to handle confidential information in line with firm data security protocols
