Job Description
SQL Database Administrator providing database engineering and modernization support for CNIC projects at GDIT. Collaborating with teams for cloud transformation and data optimization with SQL Server environments.
Responsibilities:
- Support the CNIC Enterprise Business Solutions modernization efforts as part of the DEOS Task Order
- Provide database engineering, modernization, migration, performance optimization, and cloud transformation support across SQL Server 2019 environments, Azure SQL, and Azure Data Factory
- Ensure continuity of operations during modernization activities
- Collaborate closely with cloud engineers, application teams, cybersecurity, and data architects to support CNIC’s migration roadmap
- Administer, configure, maintain, and optimize SQL Server 2019 database environments supporting CNIC applications
- Build, manage, and optimize Azure Data Factory pipelines, orchestrations, and data flows
- Evaluate existing legacy databases and recommend modernization strategies, cloud migration approaches, and performance improvements
- Develop stored procedures, scripts, tuning plans, and database automation solutions
- Provide Tier II/III troubleshooting and escalation support for database issues
- Produce engineering documentation including procedures, architecture diagrams, migration plans, and knowledge articles
Requirements:
- Active Top Secret clearance
- 8 years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server 2019, Azure SQL (SQL Online), Azure Data Factory
- Database migration and modernization experience
- Experience with database security, auditing, RBAC, patching, and compliance
- Experience performing database performance tuning, monitoring, index optimization, and troubleshooting
- Experience supporting large-scale modernization or cloud migration efforts
- BS Degree or equivalent Computer Science or IT related degree
- DoD 8570 IAT II compliant - Security+ CE
